I purchased this cutter (for home use) after some discussion with a person who had some experience with 'Wahl' hair cutting products; I was not disappointed with my decision.

The unit comes with a clip guard, blade oil, a comb and six different cutting guides (ranging from 1/8 to 1 inch). This is a corded unit and requires a wall outlet that will accept one normal width and one wide prong plug.

The pros:

1.)This clipper has a heavy, secure feeling in your hand; it really feels solid and well made.

2.)The cutting guides give a nice solid 'click' when applied to the blades, giving the impression that they are securely on.

3.)Noise was not an issue for me (as opposed to the person who reviewed this product before me). I felt the unit produced a substantial, but not terribly annoying, hum.

4.But most importantly, this unit gave a smooth, even cut; plus, there was no pulling of hair despite my attempts to push the blades through my hair fairly fast (to see how well it would perform when used quickly). The blades cut my hair without the slightest hesitation, nor was there any sense of laboring from the motor itself.

Conclusion:
An excellent hair cutting product for either professional or home use. It is reasonably priced and to date, has matched, if not exceeded my expectations. 5 Stars.

(More customer reviews)I bought this product at least 5 years ago. I am a father of 3 boys and I wanted to try a "better" clipper to cut their hair with. I previously used a store bought Wahl that was adequate but I noticed the "pro" razor my barber was using had a different kind of humming sound. I found this razor and read it had a "V5000" motor that was more powerful that the consumer model. I have been using this product to cut my own hair (whatever is left of it!) and my kids have been cutting each others hair for years. This product is great and is very durable. It has a strong motor that makes the job a lot easier.

Be careful of using the bare blade to trim your neck. Make sure you move the black bar adjustment towards the middle, or you can cut yourself, as I have a few times. It is actually quite easy to cut your own hair once you get the hang of it!

(More customer reviews)Answer is, yes, it is worth it.The best haircutter/razor I have ever owned.Half the size of regular haircutters, but twice the power and versatility.No joke.Doesn't pull hair, and gives a clean, smooth cut, that is very close and even good for sensitive skin like mine is.I use it for cutting beards and also for cutting hair, and it works excellent for both.I don't think I'm ever going to buy a cheap/crappy one ever again.Seriously, once I used this one the very first time, my old Remington haircutter (which was only one year old and already falling apart) went immediately into the trash can.I'm sure you will do the same with whatever old haircutter you have if you buy this one or the TOL (most expensive) WAHL if you can afford that one, which I can't yet but if this one ever goes out I will probably buy this one again or the Top-O-the-Line one that WAHL also makes that is about twice this cost.Highly recommended. 9/10
