(More customer reviews)I also purchased this Wahl trimmer for my Miniature Schauzer and strongly agree with the review posted by S. Frey. It worked great on her ears as she sat comfortably on my lap. It allowed me the luxury of having much less to pluck by hand. You still have to pluck the inner hair but the small trimmer head gets in places my full size Wahl trimmer simply cannot and was never intended to. This trimmer also works great for the hair between her paw pads and trimming around her eyes.
Maybe the reviewer who tried to use this on his poodle didn't realize this is a "fine line" trimmer and not intended to do the job of a full size trimmer. A full size trimmer's blades are larger and spaced farther apart than a fine line trimmer so that it can remove more hair quickly and over a much larger area. Trying to accomplish more than detail trimming with this tiny 3/8" trimming head would be like trying to fill your swimming pool with a teaspoon. It's just not the right tool for that job.
Mine has never heated up and probably never will as long as I continue to use it as the manufacturer intended. It cuts very well and unless you get a defective unit, yours will too as long as you use it for the duties it was designed to perform. I consider this a "must have" grooming tool and I think my Schnauzer would agree. I highly recommend getting this detail trimmer even if you only use it for your pet's ear hair.
