I've tried other big-name products, and the results are always the same: they stop dead as soon as they get into thicker hair. If they had simply slowed down a bit, it would have been annoying but livable. You can imagine where these other products ended up.
The Andis is able to handle everything I can give it without a noticeable decrease in cutting speed. It's just as strong at the end of the cut as it was in the beginning. As a plus, it uses NiMH batteries, which, in my view, are superior (and more environmentally friendly) to the older NiCADs.
